5 Day Ngorongoro, Tarangire & Serengeti Safari

This low-cost lodge safari brings you to three of Tanzania’s best game parks on the famed Northern Safari Circuit.

Over the course of five days, go on 4×4 game drives in the famed Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park.

An amazing trip across East Africa’s game-rich landscapes, animals, and cultural highlights.

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

This Tanzania Lodge Safari starts in Arusha, where we will pick you up from your pre-safari lodging. The path begins with your guide telling you all about the journey ahead and what to expect, and then you reach the track. We drive west and then south, joining Tanzania’s game-rich area known as the Northern Safari Circuit.

Tarangire National Park, famed for its large herds of elephants, is our first stop for game watching. We tour the park in a specially built 4×4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof for optimum visibility. On our game trip, we pause in the bush for a picnic lunch.

Tarangire is home to a variety of wild animals, including lions and buffalos, as well as antelopes, wildebeest, giraffes, and zebras. The national park encompasses 2600km2 of woodland, with undulating plains littered with baobab and acacia trees. After our wildlife experience in Tarangire Park, we leave the park and make our way to our first overnight stop at a tented camp near Tarangire National Park.

Tanzania Day 2: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park

The second day begins with breakfast at the tented lodge before we continue exploring the Northern Safari Circuit.  Our route takes us north-west to the Serengeti National Reserve, passing through Mto Wa Mbu village and Karatu city. We enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and make our way to higher land. We pause along the way to enjoy the views of the Rift Valley below.

We continue along the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, driving down the outer slopes into the Serengeti’s open plains. We make our way to the Serengeti National Park by driving through rural villages inhabited by pastoralist Maasai people. When you arrive at the entry gate near Naabi Hill, you can take a short walk to the viewpoint and gaze out over the vast grasslands.  The game viewing adventure continues as you drive into the Seronera section of Serengeti Park. We begin our journey to Kati Kati Tented Camp with a game drive, stopping for lunch along the way. This is one of the world’s best safari destinations, rivaling Kenya’s Masai Mara. A diverse range of wildlife can be found roaming the African savannahs that stretch as far as the eye can see.

Serengeti National Park – Tanzania – Day 3

After breakfast at the comfortable tented camp, we depart for an action-packed day of game viewing in this top African game park. We spent the entire third day exploring Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, pausing only for a picnic lunch in the wilderness. We hope to see the Big Five of Africa (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and buffalo) as well as a diverse array of other wildlife. You might be lucky enough to see the Great Migration in full swing during and after the rainy season. Massive herds of plains game migrate across the Serengeti ecosystem’s rivers and plains between October and November, and again between April and June. Hundreds of thousands of herbivores (mostly wildebeest, gazelles, and zebras) migrate annually between Masai Mara and the Serengeti along an ancient route. The migration draws the attention of the Serengeti’s abundant predators, who are drawn to the easy prey of the migrating herds. The timing and path of the Great Migration vary by season, but your safari guide will use his or her knowledge to find the best spots to see the spectacle.

We return to the tented camp surrounded by the African wilderness after a memorable day of game viewing in Serengeti National Park.

Day 4: The fourth day begins with breakfast at camp as the sun rises. Then, on our way out of the national park, we take a game drive through Serengeti Park, stopping for lunch along the way. Keep an eye out for wildlife, especially early in the morning when animals and birds are more active. Then we head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which has one of Africa’s largest concentrations of biodiversity.

We descend to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, taking in breathtaking views of the world’s biggest unflooded caldera along the way. The crater is home to the Big Five as well as nearly any other kind of large mammal found in Africa. We climb out of the crater through a different path after a satisfying game drive in this World Heritage Site.

Day 5: Travel from Karatu to Arusha, Tanzania

The day starts with a leisurely breakfast at the cabin, followed by a return trip to Arusha. Our magical Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Tanzania Lodge Safari concludes in Arusha around midday.
